Said to be set sometime in the 1970s, where we follow a couple with their marriage on the rocks hoping to rekindle their relationship by taking a nice little road trip. However, the duo instead find themselves in a rural community where the kids aren't too friendly towards adults.
I just watched this film yesterday and while disturbing at times, it was quite a let down. When I was younger, I watched the entire series and while I did not remember the exact reasons for anything, I remember the main premise. I thought this was okay. The most horrifying part was when the child ran out into the street at the beginning, other than that, not much here. But, I will say this, better than, "The Hills Run Red" but, that is not saying much.

This version of the film is alot closer to the original version of the book, minus alot of the little things that made the book more interesting. In the book, the couple where written to appear to be very annoying and going through some marriage problems. Also the woman whined alot about how they should leave and would often do and say things to piss her husband off, which lead to him constantly ingoring her when she cried for his attention. Plus in the book they go alittle more into his experience in Vietnam which is why they show the flashbacks with the Vietcong.
And they left out alot of the inner conflicts between Malikai and Isaac, and how Isaac was trying to replace Malikai with someone he could have more influence over. Actually I thnk they briefly touched on it in the film but in the book there was alot more too it. Im not trying to defend the film because it is pretty bad but in terms of acuracy in the events, they were pretty close.
Spoiler: Highlight to view
Due to the previous films, there's really no surprise that "he who walks between the rows" was real. In the book, i think Stephen King tried to convince the reader that the children subcame to religious fervor and that "he who walked between the rows" wasn't real and was made up in the minds of the children. The way he presents everything, the children seemed misguided and shows the dangers of become too religously zealous only to surprise the reader by showing at the end of the story that the demon was real. sort of an attempts to make the reader think that the kids were just religously misguided. Anyone who has seen the films already know this is not true so its no true surprise.
all in all, this film is in a rare occassion, is a close translation of the book, but really poor acting, and the fact that if you saw the previous films, theres no surprise at the end, kills this film. I remember when the first Children of the corn came out, alot of people complained how it was nothing like the book. which is funny cause even though this is closer to the book, you really cant find any reason to enjoy this film which is sad cause the book is still really good,

This is simply a remake that should never have been done. Stephen King movies are often hit or miss. The original Children of the Corn is quite simply a classic. This new version was worthless. Isaac was not by any means scary. The rest of the cast, especially the children, were not very good either. Very disappointing. I went in with an open mind, but was not surprised of the outcome since it premiered on ScyFy.

they relly shouldn't remake this on sic-fi they haven't been good movie lately. i wish sic-fi would go back to the way they use too be. they would try on there movies
When movies go strait to dvd they usually turn out bad with the low budget effects making it very obvious that what ever gore that is in the movie is fake. The original was good but it could have been better so I want to see how this one turns out.

I think this could be a better then the original remake. I thought the original was really not that good a movie, though it was amazing compared to the majority of the sequels. I really would like tosee this play out with the original ending from the story. I'm gonna wait till the dvd of it though because it won't be able to be all that graphic on tv. Which is a bummer but understandable.

Im not against the remake trend but i dont know if this one should be touched.

Agreed =]
Except that we've come a long way since this movie first came out.
But you're right, in MOST cases, movies that go straight to DVD are pretty sucky.
I'd still watch it though, lol.
I love Children of the Corn.. I think they went a lil out of hand with how many movies that followed, but *shrugs*
