The argument about whether or not this movie is good or bad is kinda irrelevant, the bottom line is it's not a horror movie. People don't go to see it to be scared, they go to see a love story.

True and false. Why people watch horror is a matter of opinion, not all see them to be scared. I personally watch horror because I love the genre; I don't watch to be scared. Though your last statement is true -- people watch Twilight because they want to see a good love story.

And where do you stand Mr. Fright. Me? I don't care about these movies very much. I can't say they suck or don't cuz i haven't seen them. I do own Twilight. My female roomate made me buy it so we could watch it together. In is still in its celophane and i bought it the day it came out.
I'm not a hater, it just doesn't seem like something i would enjoy. I'll probably end up owning the entire series (roommate) and i'll probably never actually watch them.
I'm just not interested.

I hope that I didn't miss a previous post with the same idea (and if I did I apologize), but I think the reason why "Twitlight" sucks so badly is not because of the movie itself, but because it's not a "horror" movie. I'm a hardcore horror fan, and if I don't see blood within the first 10 minutes of the movie, I'm outta there (well, not really, but you get the point). If I want to watch a sappy love story with "winsome females" and effiminate men, I'll turn on "Melrose Place" or "One Tree Hill", or some such nonsense like that. They "threw in" the vampire schtick in hopes of getting "non-lifetime channel" watchers curious and hooking them in. As with the rest of the "sissification of America", this movie series is trying to turn REAL horror movie fans into sissies and being politically-correct. In closing, I say NO...I will NOT go quietly into the land of romance novels and soap operas. I will fight tooth and nail (pulling them out myself if need be) to keep horror movies what they're supposed to be...A BLOODY GOOD SHOW!

Uhm....Twilight was never classed as a horror movie. Lol. Not once, not even a little, a good chunk of movies on here aren't horror, they are thriller, or have some form of gore or something in them that would give them a reason to be up on here. i.e; vampires, blood, werewolves, shape shifters. Also it wasn't a sappy love story, she never tried to make the damn book a horror book, EVER. So before you sit here and bitch about how Twilight isn't a damn horror movie, do some fucking research, and look at a good chunk of these movies on here.

@sternrulez I'm with you all the way, this garbage should have stayed on the lifetime channel or some nonsense like the disney channel. Honestly a Goosebumps episode is a lot better than this garbage(I do like Goosebumps in the inner child way, but still).

No one called this a horror movie. It's pg 13 for a reason and it's not about blood. Hell a lot of movies that are mostly blood and gore are boring and over the top. The saw movies aren't even horror. They're just a gorefest. There's a difference. Horror means scary. If you're scared by the saw movies, you seriously need help. As for Twilight being a bad 'horror movie' or Not 'belonging here' Look at some of the other movies that make it on here. Stan Helsing? Seriously...? That wasn't scary or funny it was just stupid. Circue De Freak or whatever..... riiight really belongs here. Transmania or whatever that stupid ass movie is belongs on here too? Ghostbusters 3? You have your right to your opinions but god think before you share.

I don't see what the point of these arguments are, at all. Vampires are as far as anyone knows fictional creatures at the most. Granted, you don't hear about 'sparkling' vampires ever; but that is honestly not the point. She wrote a vampire novel, about love. Why must all vampires follow the standard of: crazed, blood thirsty, horrible, misleading, nasty beasts? They are fictional, a person can write about and create a vampire however they see fit. All you see are these remakes, it does get old. I think she made a bold statement and stepped out of the box that we all were stuck in. She's a writer, a fictional one at that. Who on earth made a "vampire law"? No one, a person can make a vampire however they see fit, just because you want to be stuck in the past, and think it's the only way, fine do so; but don't tear an Authors original work to shreds for your own child like amusement. If you don't like it, don't read it, or watch it. It's obviously that simple. Everyone is so quick to flame, just because someone else is, or because they think she ruined vampires. Yes, well news flash a vampire never has, never will be how anyone makes it out to be. You may see it in your mind as one way, and another person would see them as being another way. You all make petty arguments, that just slam face first into dead ends, it's absurd and honestly quite stupid; but we are entitled to our own opinions. Just for the love of god, least sound semi intelligent when you are trying to get your point across, it's hard trying to take someone serious when all you see is: 'i hate twilight, itz a stoopid movie. she totilly ruined vamps, cuz she made dem sparklez n they r suppozed 2 b scary.'

@MEGAN-Yrrbby I see your point, and such. And to me it's not about the love, because I am a Near Dark fan(but atleast in that movie they didn't heighten the love as much as the actual culture of a vampire and the atmosphere is what really hit). Mainly it's the fact that this should have remained a novel more then a cinematical released story. Now you say, oh there is no vampire law and vampires can be what they want to be. Ok, look at the actual "vampire bat" and it's nature. We can't just alter it's nature for it has it's instincts and survival methods. Vampires spawned off the idea of the "vampire bat", along with it yes being a mythical creature. But the point is, you can say "Oh we can do what we want with it" but yet look at Day of the Dead 2: Contagium. Yeah watch that and tell me that we can do that with zombies..yeahhh, shut it. No one likes that movie, and the directors need to be shot...creepshow fuck ups.

The bandwagon haters are always so transparent in their hypocrisy and none fit the stereotype more than the Twilight-haters. I’ve read and heard it all… Twilight is “pop culture bullshit” and “it’s not original” blah, blah, blah. First of all the pop culture world of vampires is infested with the bloody stupidity of the Blade types where storyline matters far less than tits, guts and gore. Face it, Twilight dared to be different and it reaped the rewards of its bravery. Too damn bad if you don’t like it! No fangs? Been done a hundred times before hasn’t it? Oh yeah! A genuine love story without the cheap T&A gimmicks of nearly every vampire movie out there? Yup, been done to death in this subgenre! Natural day walkers, glittering skin, humanistic, humane, venom instead of blood exchange etc. etc. all that is just so common in vampire movies these days. The last time a vampire movie has any genuine multi-dimensional characterization was Interview with the Vampire. The comparisons to Vampire Diaries and True Blood are completely unjustified… they are NOTHING alike. You people need to think your arguments out in a more thoughtful and intelligent way before submitting them to scrutiny. I hate bandwagon jumpers for a very good reason… they remind me of republicans… they can’t think for themselves.

Can someone please explain to me what exactly is original about this series besides the fact that the vampires sparkle like they have an over-dependance on body glitter.

this story, everything in it, has been done before. don't believe me? take a look into the vampire diaries and true blood series' respectively. those two stories together essentially equal twilight minus the glitter.

as for people complaining about the vampires being sex symbols because of twilight, that's ridiculous too. vampires have always been sexual in nature because of the whole biting on the neck thing.

let's be serious, nothing about twilight is very original, but most of the people who are into it are too young to realize that. people just have to accept that the series is part of popular culture and that hating it and talking about how undeserving it is of its fame isn't going to make it go away.

Salem's picture

User offline. Last seen 6 days 15 hours ago. Offline

True. Also majority of female vampires are usually bi, lez in nature as well. So if Bella is a vamp as people have stated..then (que porn music) lol. Ewww rug burn. lol.

MEGAN-Yrrbby's picture

User offline. Last seen 6 days 15 hours ago. Offline

Actually, you are wrong. The majority are not gay, some may be, but the majority are not. They may also come off gay, or bi-sexual, I'd assume a vast percentage are probably swingers. I've read a decent amount of vampire books, and rarely have I read one with a gay female vampire, or rarely have I seen and watched a movie with a gay female vampire. I've seen, and read about female biting females, or draining females. Intimate as it may be, that doesn't make a female vampire gay, or bi-sexual. Vampires as a general from how the past and today's society has written them off, are powerful, sexually sexy creatures. A female may act, and seduce one in who's not male just for the kill; but unless you are watching some weird crazy porn stuff, then you are wrong. It's rare that you see a female vampire even having an sexual contact with another female, usually you see male vampires being the ones to ravish the females, or the females to ravish a male. So before you go make a statement, use a dictionary, and when someone points out you are wrong, there is no need to flame them in an utterly child like manner. (i.e; Majority = Most - I'd say a small percent are gay and bi-sexual.)

Omgosh's picture

That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Wow. Not all female vampires are lesbian or bi. You really need to get your hand removed from your pants and shut the porn off and watch REAL VAMPIRE movies Cupcake. Wink

lol I'm not a fan bitch I'm not even going to the theaters to see this Princess, and you're still wrong. Not even in books are the female vampires mostly lesbian or bi. Idk how you can read the HP series. I'd have to read it in shock therapy so I stay awake It's so boring I kept falling asleep. But the movies, I'll admit were amazing. But I am sure my opinion doesn't matter and no I'm not some Twilight freak fan. I enjoyed the books when they first came out and then heard of the movie awhile later and thought I'd give it a try. So whatever you all have the right to your opinions. Ridiculous or not Wink

DarkPrincess697's picture

You're right we all have our own opinions. I thought the fourth book was a little better seeing Bella as a Vampire. I personally do not like Kristen Stewart as Bella. Bella in the book was more interesting than her and I hated Jacob in the book. He was so immature which makes me dread watching the movie. At least Taylor Lautner is good to look at.

DarkPrincess697's picture

I love this site finally people who find this series way overrated. I mean it is in your face and it makes you hate the movie before you want to see it. The books are boring. I read it to please a friend and my attention wondered like no other. I know this is a bad comparison but Harry Potter books keep my attention. Also Rob Pattison AKA like someone said Edward Cuntface (LOL)has way too much exposure. Now that Taylor guy is getting all the press. Can't wait till this series is over and i am so glad there are only 4 books. Imagine if it were 7 books like HP.

I rather watch sesame street then read the dumbass twilight books, or even watch that movie ever again. I'm so fucking tired of every tom, dick, and harry talking about TWILIGHT this and TWILIGHT that. I have to work with a twenty three year old, virgin manager that has never had a gf talk about that shit. Now what I just said about the manager being 23, virgin, never had a gf is completely 100% true. I would seriously not make that up. I have a hard time actually holding in my laughter when he tries..I stress tries a lot to flirt with girls. I work at Blockbuster, and happy. But I don't just hear it there..it's fucking everywhere. In my opinion it's just another Harry Potter trend. i.e pure gayness that will last for years until the fuck something else up while it dies off.

Ugh I am so sick of seeing people comment this and saying it doesn't belong on this website or that the wolves and vampires are pansies or not suppose to be sexy with abs. MY GOD how old are you idiots? When was the last vampire movie you saw that they didn't make a vampire into a sex object? Seriously? Besides Nosferatu from back in the damn day, all vampires now are turned into sex objects everyone wants to be with. So stfu about that. As for the werewolves they're not really that, they're just shapeshifters and I for one think they did an incredible job with them. You're just being pigheaded idiots because you know the wolves look awesome.
I mean my god look at the wolves in Underworld. They're basically hairless fucked up looking things that don't even resemble wolves in the least bit.

As for not belonging here WTF it's a horror movie website. There's a lot of horror movies that are on here that don't fucking belong. If this is going to just be a horror movie site take down all the stupid ass movies. Circue De freak or whatever isn't horror. It's a bad comedy. So is Transmania or whatver that movie is called. Ghostbusters 3? Cmon. Now just stfu and deal with this being on here. Yes you have the right to your opinion but grow up. You don't want to see it then don't. You don't like it fine good for you. But don't sit around bashing every little thing they do or for this being on here altogether cos that's just ridiculous. Grow up. -.-

Bella is a ho with insecurities and issues, and must find a level of acceptance only obtainable through guys with issues...In her case, major issues...Sparkling skin, rippling abs, "chissled cheek bones"...Actually in Twilight, Lycanthropy and Vampirism are NOT problems, instead they make you gay and sexy. I dont mind the love story or mushy teen-ness, I hate that THIS idea Vampirism has become a fashion and that the vampire lore has been tossed you so far out the window, like it if you want, but it is no better than the Hills or whatever the fuck kids are rotting their minds with these days.

moikus
just read the books dude the movies suck. or i guess i could just lay it out for u

1st book: nothing much happens she meets some vamps some like her some want to eat her the good beats the bad.

2nd book. edward leaves. bella is emo she gets new boyfriend who is "werewolf" then she gets back with edward.

3rd book. all about power struggle with edward and jacob

4th book; edward and bella get married she gets knocked up, the baby kills her during birth and they turn her too vamp.

not really that interesting but if you still want to waist your time and money just to see what happens to characters you didn't even really like than knock yourself out.

I seriously can not believe that this Book/Movie has caught on to American culture. The idea that the next generation of kids in america will grow up thinking that vampires sparkle in the sunlight and suck cow ass for blood scares me. The Book was poorly writen, and the movie (Shouldnt be) good because it is based on a bad book so logic would say that the movie would suck also. (It does) The sequal follows the same standards as the first. And as for it being removed, I agree, it isnt a horror, it is a dramatic love story that should be decapitated, and stabed. With a wooden stake. Mabey shoot it with silver bullets just in case. You can never be to carfull with crappy movies... or books.

Omgosh's picture

User offline. Last seen 4 hours 48 min ago. Offline

To one his own, yes these vampires are different then the usual but that's also what makes them unquie. This is a whole new world now from what we grew up with. Teenagers nowadays enjoy hearthrobs and sad love stories compared to old guys who travel at night biting people. Lol. A lot of girls can relate to Bella so they enjoy the books and movies. And as for having this removed from the site, that's stupid. A lot of movies on here are not 'scary' a lot aren't even horror movies they're just really bad wastes of time. Like Cirque Du Freak. What's horror about that? It's just a bad comedy. So if that movie has every right to be here, then the Twilight saga can be here too. You have your right to opinion even if it's idiotic Big smile

No one has dominion over what a vampire has to be like - authors and film-makers are free to interpret as they please and you're free to dislike their interpretations - but baying for its blood (no pun intended) and calling for it to be removed because it does not gel with your personal vampiric preferences is veering into intolerance, one of the main enemies of artistic freedom.

Wow what a waste of good money. I was bought a ticket(forced) to see it in theaters twice. First time I fell asleep after getting a little theater delight in the back row Wink. And the second time I actually tuned more into it and wondered...HOW THE FUCK CAN A VAMPIRE SPARKLE IN SUNLIGHT!?!?! How gay! It is RUINING the vampire genre..b-b-b-b-biiigggg time. Nosferatu rolling around in his "grave" within oblivion, along with Vlad the Impaler, and most of all Bela Lugosi. Bela didn't start off practically as Dracula into becoming a master of horror next to Karloff to see his starring role to be the butt of a joke as Twilight presents vampires to be.

Blackest Adam's picture

User offline. Last seen 9 hours 30 min ago. Offline

I don't think Twilight is 'ruining' vampire lore at all. It's different, yes, but when you look back at great vampire stories over the years, either written or filmed, there have been a lot of different takes on vampires. The gothic menace of crumbling old castles and black carriages - contrasted against the idyllic little forest hamlets - seen in, say, Hammer Studios's vampire movies, is a totally different vibe than what was in, for example, Near Dark, where we had a very modern-world, very gritty take on the vampires, with them riding the highways at night in beat-up old cars, sleeping in boarding-up old motel rooms by day, and slaughtering victims en masse with none of the mystical feel or grandeur of the traditional Dracula tales. Or the feral savagery of 30 Days Of Night is totally different from the escalating eeriness of the Japanese Lament Of The Lamb manga (in which the vampires can also walk in the daylight, just like in Twilight). And if it's an issue of changing the original folklore, which original folkore? The legends vary a lot just from a single region, let alone the differences between what the European take on vampires traditionally was to the vampire lore originating in Turkey or The Philippines.

I like it that the various vampire tales coming out now are so distinct from one another. The Twilight saga is one way, the Underworld saga totally different, and 30 Days Of Night totally different from either of them. I can't wait for the next entries in each of these great series. (Now if only Elizabeth Kostova will write a sequel to The Historian, we'll really be all set on the vampire front.)
