Shrill Cries of Summer


Keiichi Maebara has just moved to a remote mountain village, and quickly becomes close friends with a group of seemingly innocent young girls. He soon discovers that his new found friends may be involved in the disappearance and murders that occur in the village once a year. After almost getting hit by a car and nearly eating a sewing needle found in his food, he fears that he may be next.

- Though the series contains many different storylines, this live action version will only focus on the first arch in the anime.
- Writer/director Ataru Oikawa also worked on Tomie and the more recent Apt. 1303.
- Aside from the anime, the popular series was also adapted in video games and manga.
- Based on the Japanese anime Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry).

An originally ignorant and boring plot I may add! Japanese horror is just like U.S. horror, it doesn't give anything to the art! There's nothing to suggest them, so why have them? They're all the same, just like our mainstream! You can watch Crap-anese horror all you want...but if I'm going to buy the same kind of crap, i'd rather get it from the U.S.! Enough said!
