Hellboy comic-creator
Mike Mignola spoke with SciFi wire confirming that the film will gear more towards the folklore of monsters compared to the first film, saying: "That really is a big element of the Hellboy stories, and that element was completely not in the first film. So the idea of the second film would be sort of the other half of the Hellboy world. I don't know that Russian [mythology will figure in] so much, but certainly that idea of these ancient creatures that have been kind of shoved out of the mainstream and are living underground [will]. It's about that kind of stuff." Thanks to "Michael S."
5.12.05
Actor Ron Perlman spoke with the guys at SciFi Wire about the status of the film, where he revealed that the script was turned in this month and he believes they're eye-ballin' a January '06 production start. Here more of what he said: "I know that they were looking to get more into the folklore of the character, you know, and less into the pyrotechnics. ... I guess I'll read it when I'm invited to. ... I couldn't even dream beyond what already has been a reality. I mean, you know, everything that's transpired with regard to the depiction, Guillermo's distillation of turning a two-dimensional guy into a three-dimensional guy was far beyond anything I could have dreamed possible. So I'll just defer to him. Happily."
3.28.05
Actor Ron perlman spoke with E Online recently, revealing a small tidbit on the production of the film. According to the site he was quoted saying filming will begin as early as this Fall. He also goes on to say that if there is another sequel after this that he'd be happy to reprise his roll as Hellboy.
11.17.04
Director Guiillermo del Toro spoke with Now Playing Magazine about the film, revealing what fans can expect in the sequel. Here's what he said: "Abe Sapien is coming back. Liz, Myers…even Professor Broom is doing a little cameo. We have a moment in the movie where you see Professor Bruttenholm as a younger man reading a story to Hellboy."
He then added... "You will get new characters from the B.P.R.D. [Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense] comics. You’re going to get Johan, the guy with no body, which is a really great character. And we’re going to have a little surprise cameo from one of the villains from the first film."
11.14.04
Jeffrey Tambor has signed on to reprise his role as the BPRD agent Dr. Tom Manning.
9.23.04
Star Selma Blaire talked with SciFi Wire about the film possibly being delayed so director Guillermo del Toro can work on another project, and went on to say how she doesn't start going before the cameras until a year-and-a-half, saying: "I don't start that for probably a year and a half. Guillermo is working on something else, so I'll probably have to wait. I talked to Guillermo last week when I was in Europe with him. He's sworn me to secrecy, but it's so good, and I'm so excited."
She then went on to talk about what she expects from her character in the film: "We kind of came together with what I wanted [on the first film]," Blair said. "I want more control and for Liz to be sexier for the second one, and I hope the wardrobe will reflect that, because she's no longer a shrinking violet."
9.05.04
Director Guillermo del Toro spoke with Empire Online recently in a webchat, where he revealed some details on the film. He was quoted saying how he'd be interested in making Hellboy into a trilogy, and then went on to speak a little on the possible story for the sequel, saying: "We tried to do an entire sequel based on the Roger [a homunculus created by a scientist to bring about the end of the world] origin story, and found it to be actually very similar to what Hellboy is in the first movie - a conflicted monster. So the sequel will have another BPRD member, Johan the Ectoplasmic Agent".
8.03.04
Moviehole spoke with director Guillermo del Toro briefly, where he revealed a little on the film, saying: "I start writing it in the Fall and then it’ll depend on how fast we get a script we’re all happy about and how fast we can work out a budget and a date. It’s in the future, but I wouldn’t put a date on it. In the next Hellboy adventure he’ll (Hyde-Pierce’s Abe Sapien) have a more prominent role. She’ll be back (Blair). Jeffrey Tambor will be back. We will have a good class of weirdos around."
5.24.04
Producer Lloyd Levin spoke to The Winnipeg Sun recently about the upcoming project saying: "There's a huge Hellboy mythology to draw from, so we wouldn't run out of material if there was a demand for several sequels...It's essential not to let the budget of the sequels balloon. We brought Hellboy in on a modest budget ($65 million) and we intend sequels to be in the same ballpark".

Cameron - No shit, but I reviewed the first, and I make exceptions for fantasy-related films, especially ones as popular as this. I have a number of reviews on the site that aren't specifically horror, but I choose to review'em anyway.
As for the movie, it was brilliant. Nothing short of amazing. No complaints from me at all
