| They’re back! Every year the population of sleepy Lake Havasu explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for a single, wild weekend - the 4th of July, a riot of sun, drunken fun and sex-crazed mayhem. But this year, there's something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers. Havasu sits in the crater formed by a prehistoric volcanic eruption, and when earth tremors tear open a crack in the lake floor, all hell breaks through. Piranhas - a million ravenous, razor-toothed monsters, unchanged since the dawn of time. Unstoppable killing machines acting blindly under one primeval impulse: to hunt down anything that moves and strip it to the raw, bleeding bone. In seconds. As bodies start disappearing, beautiful, feisty dock manager Julie Tupper realizes the horrifying truth. The idyllic little town she calls home is facing unthinkable carnage, no one wants to listen... and her diving expert fiancé has gone missing on the water. LATEST NEWS 2.09.08 Comments page 3 of 3:
Ahhh Elvira, a girl after my own heart. Two very original and unbeatable classics, movies that will go on timelessly, I'm glad that ratdick ringmeat Ash hasn't decided to post anything negative about the idea of remaking this movie, not that I've seen anyway, I'm tired of making him look like a little bitch.
i love piranha 1978 and halloween are my favorite movies from that year
This was my favorite horror movie as a kid.I'm so disappointed in Hollywood.
I loved the original. Although I am not a fan of remakes, I'm hoping since Aja is directing, it won't be too bad. However if they put this in 3-D...well any horror flick in 3-D, I will squeal like a little school girl.
I loved the original PIRANHA. Hell, Besides JAWS, Piranha was the only other movie that made me think twice about getting in water. Now that is something, when a movie fucks you up like that. All though I was still pretty young when I saw PIRANHA, I have fond memories. Also there have been sucky versions that I would like to erase from my mind, so a remake for this movie may be a good thing. But again, that is IF the movie is treated right and is done right. GOD! I hope this doesn't turn out to be another Hollywood rehash like HALLOWEEN, TCM and other classics that are now doomed.
