DETAILS

- Filming is said to begin in Virginia sometime in March '09.
- Actor Conrad Brooks had a role in the 1994 film Ed Wood, which followed the life of the original director.
- The film's aimed release will coincide with the original's 50th anniversary.
- Described as a "serious-minded retelling of the original story, paying homage to the spirit of Wood's film without resorting to camp or parody."
- It's said that the film will "focus on the horror and science fiction aspects of the original, but will also be largely character-driven."
- Low-budget production company Darkstone Entertainment is behind this.
- A remake of the cheesy 1959 Ed Wood film, Plan 9 From Outer Space.

This is a "Hollywood" remake. I don't think any of you posting comments have seen John Johnson's movies. They are extremely independent productions usually SOV with gross out humor and outrageous situations. I'm referring to Skeleton Key (and no, not the Kate Husdon piece of ... !) Give this one a chance. John Johnson is a big Ed Wood fan. I don't think he would do anything to disrespect the original Plan 9.

I think this would make a better comedy if written as such.

LOL, the worst movie ever made is being remade!
And people please, I used to bitch about remakes too, but think about it, movies have been remade since we switched from black and white to color, sure we all fall in love with the versions we see, and that's why we can't take the fact that a new version comes out, but think about it, if King Kong wasn't remade, we'd all had to watch the black and white clay version, and don't forget about Thirteen Ghosts, House on Haunted Hill, and Creature From The Black Lagoon just to mention a few... Now, I still think FOREIGN films are the ones that shouldn't be remade.

Ok, Here we go again.Another remake, albeit of a movie so damn poorly filmed that it's good! HOLLYWOOD, please listen now and hear me next week. The WGA wanted more money for their writing, well make them earn it and write something original, not tweak something written by someone else and then put their name on it. Whats next remake of Citizen Kane and Gone With The Wind.

I knew this would happen eventually. I wonder what Ed Wood himself would think?

well, id like to see where this goes... i personally love the original, and darkstone has done a few funny movies, so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt til i see the movie... as for them being hollywood? you didnt even look at anything... and everywhere i look, everyone says is nothing sacred, yet everybody praised the Dawn of the Dead remake... and the answer, nothing is ever sacred... there is no movie out there, that will never be remade in filmmaking, hell everything today is basically a remake of something else...

well, the original is a classic, so in typical hollywood fashion, this will probably be crap.

It was just a matter of time till Hollywood would remake this one. Damn. Is NOTHING sacred any more?
