Ghost Rider 2 officially moving forward

Well it has been long talked about, but Variety has now made it official today, with their report that Columbia Pictures is moving forward with the sequel. It's said that the story will be based on a script that David Goyer wrote years ago. Although Goyer isn't signed onto the project yet, he's expected to supervise new writers to update his script.

Nic Cage is also expected to return as the Ghost Rider himself, Johnny Blaze. There's currently no director attached, but it's unlikely that original writer/director Mark Steven Johnson will go behind the camera again due to his busy schedule. Goyer is no stranger to comic book adaptations as he served as writer and producer on the Blade trilogy (also directing the third) and co-wrote the last two Batman films.
