Zach Cregger returns to produce and co-write with Zach Shields (Krampus, Godzilla: King of the Monsters). No word if Cregger will direct or if Amy Madigan will return as Gladys. The current working title for the movie is simply Gladys. (4/1/26)
Zach Cregger confirmed in a recent interview that he is indeed in talks with the studio about a potential prequel to Weapons, saying: "It is real and I’ve been talking to Warner Bros. about it. There’s a story and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s not bullshit." Adding.. "I was ready. I had it kind of in my pocket before the movie came out." It's still early days and isn't officially in development, but it seems likely to happen, especially given the success of the first movie. (9/22/25)

It's said that Zach Cregger's original script had a chapter for the Aunt Gladys character which went a little into her backstory, but it was removed for length purposes, so this prequel would reportedly expand on that.
