It looks like this project is in some sort of development hell. The last update was in 2017 when the studio hired Christine Lavaf to script the project. While there hasn't been an update on this movie project since, CBS did move forward with a series revival in 2019 with Jordan Peele (Get Out, Nope), which lasted two seasons before getting cancelled. Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion) was in talks to direct at one point.
The studio once hoped to begin filming sometime in the Summer of 2012.
Joby Harold (Awake) is in negotiations to rewrite the script. (6/11/12)
Anthony Peckham (Invictus, Sherlock Holmes) will do rewrites on the script by Jason Rothenberg.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) was once attached to direct before dropping it to pursue Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Jason Rothenberg replaces Rand Ravich as writer.
Writer Rand Ravich (Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh, The Astronaut's Wife) wrote an early draft of the script.
