PROJECT DETAILS:
Director Sébastien Vanicek recently spoke to a French outlet where he detailed the process of Sam Raimi and his team at Ghost House Pictures reaching out to him and what we can expect from the movie. Apparently after Raimi's team reached out he and Vermin co-writer Florent Bernard flew out to the US and presented them with "fifteen pages with drawings" and they liked what they saw enough that they're reportedly giving them "100% creative freedom" to do the movie. As far as what to expect, here's what he had to say (keep in mind this is Google translated from French): "If all goes well, it will be a film with a French twist, with a central French character. I want to do my post-production in France with my teams. It'll be in English, but with one or more French characters who speak English. I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I'm going to put all the horror I have inside, it's going to be cathartic, and if I haven't ruined my career and I can keep making movies, I'll move on to something other than horror. In any case, this film will feel French, I will never let go of this country, I intend to bring it with me. If all goes well, we could start filming in late 2024-early 2025, for a release I hope for Halloween 2025." (2/5/25)

This project is in the early stages of development, as a script has yet to be written. (2/5/24)

This film is currently untitled.

Written/directed by French helmer Sébastien Vanicek (Infested).

At the moment it's too early to tell if this movie will have any returning characters or much connection to the past films.

This movie is part of producer Sam Raimi's plan to let hot new filmmakers deliver their own unique takes from the Evil Dead universe, which started with 2013's Evil Dead from Fede Alvarez (Don't Breathe) and was most recently followed by 2023's Evil Dead Rise from Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground).

This is one of two new spin-off movies that's set within the Evil Dead universe.
