This Week's Notable Horror: 04/07 - 04/13


This week offers another decent amount of releases for fans to check out. Specifically, the action fantasy IN THE LOST LANDS hits PVOD tomorrow after a short theatrical run. Meanwhile, Friday sees the theatrical release of DROP from director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), while the new supernatural flick SHADOW OF GOD lands on Shudder. Check below for everything notable releasing this week.

THE CURSED TAPES
TUESDAY - APRIL 8th (VOD)

Clint inherits his estranged father Grandpa Joe's mysterious estate, only to discover a chilling, ancient door adorned with cryptic symbols and crosses. As he cleans out the house with a garage sale, he unknowingly sells an eerie radio to a troubled young boy, Sammy, whose own grief over his father's passing mirrors Clint's. What Clint doesn’t realize is that his father’s dark past is entwined with a malevolent creature imprisoned in the basement for decades.

DESERT FIENDS

Six friends on their way to a concert break down in the middle of nowhere and encounter a deranged family that lives in the desert killing anyone they come across.

GATES OF FLESH

A group of friends attempt to escape the city after an outbreak of demon possessions plunges society into chaos. The friends seek shelter in an abandoned church, but their plans for escape are ruined when one of them becomes possessed and they are forced to search for a solution before they all fall victim.

A Queen sends the powerful and feared sorceress Gray Alys to the ghostly wilderness of the Lost Lands in search of a magical power, where the sorceress and her guide, the drifter Boyce, must outwit and outfight man and demon.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN
TUESDAY - APRIL 8th (VOD)

A haunting tale of the scariest villain from our collective childhoods returns - only darker, bloodier and nastier this time. Once upon a time, Miller attempted to marry his daughter off to the King by promising she could spin straw into gold. With the help of a demonic imp, she completes the task, but the King becomes greedy and wants more. So she promises the imp her firstborn in return for yet more favours. But when it comes time to honour her bargain, dark forces merge when the Imp makes a deal with the devil.

DROP
FRIDAY - APRIL 11th (Theaters)

Violet (Meghann Fahy), a widowed mother on her first date in years, arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry (Brandon Sklenar) is more charming and handsome than she expected. But their chemistry begins to curdle as Violet begins being irritated and then terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone. She is instructed to tell nobody and follow instructions or the hooded figure she sees on her home security cameras will kill Violet’s young son and babysitting sister. Violet must do exactly as directed or everyone she loves will die. Her unseen tormentor’s final directive? Kill Henry.

HOME SWEET HOME: REBIRTH

Based on the hit Home Sweet Home video game franchise, a police officer is thrust into an alternate realm and, with a mysterious monk's help, races against the clock to save his wife and stop an evil occultist from opening the Gates of Hell.

Set at a secluded summer camp, where Morgan (Lawrence), a timid and introverted 12-year-old, is thrust into a waking nightmare when a once-fabled campfire tale becomes real. Little do they know that the truth harbors a secret that will test their resilience and unravel the very fabric of their reality.

SHADOW OF GOD

While performing an unauthorized exorcism on his father, an elite exorcist suspects the entity he's doing battle with might be a holy being - perhaps even God.
