This Week's Notable Horror: 09/01 - 09/07

It's now the first week of September and we've sadly hit a slump in terms of new releases. Aside from a few indie flicks landing on demand, not much is coming out this week. My guess is there aren't many movies willing to compete with THE CONJURING: LAST RITES, which opens in theaters this Friday. Check below for everything notable releasing soon.

NOTE: This is not a comprehensive list (there's simply too much to keep track of), but it is a list of the more notable movies to look out for. If you spot an error or if a movie is missing from the list, contact me. Also, keep in mind that these are US release dates, so they may differ if you're in another country.

HIPPO'S REVENGE
TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 2nd (VOD)

A father and daughter prepare to open their Safari Rescue in England, featuring a mother hippo and her calf. But when a ruthless criminal plots to steal them under the cover of night, chaos erupts. Facing danger, betrayal, and heartbreak, the family fights back, risking everything to protect the animals and secure their safety.

LOOKOUT
TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 2nd (VOD)

Seeking peace away from her turbulent life, a young woman accepts a job as a fire lookout at a remote wilderness tower. As she settles into her new role, eerie disturbances and strange occurrences begin to unfold, and she must uncover the chilling secrets that disrupt her isolation before it’s too late.

THE CONJURING: LAST RITES
FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 5th (Theaters)

The film is said to take place in 1986, five years after the events of the last movie. The Warrens are retired from the exorcist business, largely due to Ed's heart attack (the one sustained in the third film). They still hit the university circuit, presenting talks at various schools, but even those opportunities are drying up until one last case pulls them back in: the Smurl family haunting.

HELLOWEEN
FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 5th (VOD)

During the 2016 ‘killer clown’ craze, psychiatrist Dr. Ellen Marks teams up with investigative journalist John Parker to uncover what is behind the anarchistic clown uprising. Marks’ patient, notorious child serial killer Carl Cane, is orchestrating events from deep in the bowels of a mental hospital, spreading his evil gospel via letters and symbols. When Cane stages a murderous escape, Ellen must race home to save her two daughters from his maniacal revenge.
