It was revealed in a recent interview that there are two scripts ready for the movie, both of which follow a different character and storyline, but the directors are unsure which would be the best avenue to take for the sequel. Regardless of which script they go with, work on the project likely won't continue much further until the directors finish other projects they have scheduled. Once post-production is complete for their current movie Bring Her Back, they're gonna do a documentary on the world of death match wrestling. Then they have another secret horror project they're working on. Once all that's done they'll come back to this sequel. Michael Philippou was quoted saying: "So I’d say 2025 Bring Her Back, 2026 the documentary, 2027 [the new] horror, and then Talk to Me 2. Maybe, I don’t know." (4/2/25)
Danny Philippou revealed in an interview that he has already written several scenes for different characters encountering the hands that will likely be used in this sequel, saying that he couldn't help but "start writing other scenes, scenes of different people experiencing the hands, continuing on these characters’ story. So, there’s scenes for a sequel, yeah."
The brothers reportedly already filmed some form of a prequel to the first movie that may be used at some point. Here's what Danny Philippou had to say about it: "We actually shot an entire Duckett prequel already. It’s told entirely through the perspective of mobile phones and social media, so maybe down the line we can release that." Adding that scenes for a sequel have already been written: "But also while writing the first film, you can’t help but write scenes for a second film. So there’s so many scenes. The mythology was so thick, and if A24 gave us the opportunity, we wouldn’t be able to resist. I feel like we’d jump at it." (8/8/23)
Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou return to direct.
This is a sequel to 2022's Talk to Me, which was reportedly made on a budget of less than $5-million and would go on to earn over $22-million at the box office.
