No official plot yet, but the original revolved around a mother and son trying to survive the relentless attacks from a vicious St. Bernard that was recently infected with rabies.

Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Mother!, The Whale) is in talks to direct and will reportedly meet with potential writers soon. (3/18/25)
Netflix is behind this remake, which is currently in the very early stages of development, as the studio is currently looking for writers to take on the project. (3/11/25)
A remake was previously announced in 2015 titled C.U.J.O. which stood for "Canine Unit Joint Operations" and would've been a completely different movie compared to the original. Apparently the filmmakers never found the financing they needed to move forward and that project now remains in development hell.
This is a remake of the 1983 movie with the same name, which was based on the 1981 best selling Stephen King novel.
