DIRECTOR:
Francis is an unattractive, overweight and somewhat angry singer who has multiple reasons to be irate. She is insulted at the gym, ridiculed by her bandmate and manager, and even prevented from entering her own gig at a local Los Angles bar. Yes, being Francis is not enjoyable.
Guided by the demeaning and negative thoughts in her head regarding her worthlessness, Francis does everything to improve her situation: exercise, bulimia, posting pics of beautiful women as incentive, and watching liposuction videos. Eventually, all of this sends her reeling into the ultimate fix-it option: suicide.
After another miserable fail, a handsome and mysterious man (Jerome) who spotted her during a performance, wanders onto her path to “conjure up the devil.” What follows is a quick demonic possession that lures Francis into her next life’s phase: Maniac Woman.
Her first impactful act of vengeance is directed towards an aggressive, sexist jerk-off who hits on pretty Gabby at a health club. Thinking she would protect Gabby after this uninvited hostility, Francis pays him a visit which becomes extremely violent. Led by Jerome’s apparition to kill him after he strikes first, the slaughter leaves her exhilarated and she no longer fights these urges. She begins this newfound gift of gore by targeting attractive women who have (or probably would if given the opportunity) chastised her in the past.
Now donning a female mask which she dolls up with wigs and makeup, Francis (call her Frankie!) goes on a massive killing spree with tremendous jubilee. The movie itself, which began in black/white, has now converted into full blown color, bringing us the beautiful array of various shades of red throughout each atrocious annihilation.
This is her calling.
This is her confidence.
Attacking beautiful people brings the outcasted fatties a sense of glee so what better way to rid yourself of incessant body shaming than removal of the problem itself, right?
As the severity of the carnage intensifies, so does the appearance of her haunting friend, Jerome still coaxing her on to further these barbaric butcherings. During a flashback, her memory sparks the first time she met Jerome…apparently, he was once the fuck buddy of Francis’ “whore” of a mother (who is recognized as the initiator of her verbal abuse.) Unsure of his intentions with her, Francis tries to break free of his influence by turning on him with a large stone…and this is where the story gets zanier!
Frankie, Maniac Woman is a solid and violent horror comedy featuring outstanding performances by Dina Silva and Pierre Tsigardis. It’s bloody as fuck, gruesome, hilarious and completely out of whack. Which makes it so fucking freakishly fun.
