Pinocchio: Unstrung

A chilling reimagining of the familiar fable, ‘Pinocchio Unstrung’ unfolds inside an elite London prep school. Influenced by a sinister Cricket (Robert Englund) and created by Geppetto (Richard Brake), Pinocchio launches a violent crusade to carve himself into a real boy like his brother James, one piece at a time.

On the topic of the film, producer/director Rhys Frake-Waterfield was quoted saying: "This will be an extremely unique and R-rated depiction of Pinocchio. Featuring a high kill count, a subversion of the original story, and lots of practical gore. I’m going to welcome Pinocchio into the Poohniverse with a bang." (5/17/24)

At some point in the movie Pinocchio will reportedly wear the skin of his victim, so he can "feel like a real boy."

It's said that they'll be using a real practical Pinocchio doll in the movie and "Todd Masters at MastersFx (creator of Chucky in the 2019 “Child’s Play”) will be taking the lead in all animatronics and puppetry."

The Prosthetics Studio (whose credits include films in the Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises), will be handling much of the practical gore.

This film is part of an expanded universe of beloved children's tales-turned-horror-movies. This connected universe has been dubbed the "Poohniverse," which started with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. The ultimate goal is for these characters to be featured together in an "Avengers-style" movie called Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble.
