This Week's Notable Horror: 08/11 - 08/17


We have another decent batch of new movies to catch this week. Namely, DIE'CED: RELOADED finds its way to VOD tomorrow after a limited theatrical run last week. While on the topic of limited theatrical runs, this Friday sees some notable releases hitting theaters, like the sci-fi horror flick DESCENDENT, the horror comedy JIMMY AND STIGGS and the WITCHBOARD remake. Check below for info on all the notable flicks releasing this week.

DESCENDENT
FRIDAY - AUGUST 15th (Limited)

Set in present-day Los Angeles, Sean Bruner, a school security guard who is haunted by childhood trauma while preparing for the birth of his first child with his wife, Andrea. After a beam of light appears in the sky during a late-night shift, Sean wakes up in the hospital with an inexplicable talent for vivid, unsettling drawings of extraterrestrials and desert landscapes.

JIMMY AND STIGGS
FRIDAY - AUGUST 15th (Limited)

A shitstorm of bad news sends out of work filmmaker Jimmy spiraling into an out of control bender in which he claims to have been abducted by aliens. Fearing they'll come back, he contacts his old friend Stiggs to help him gear up for war.

WENT UP THE HILL
FRIDAY - AUGUST 15th (Limited)

A recently deceased woman haunts her estranged son Jack (Dacre Montgomery) and her grieving widow Jill (Vicky Krieps). When the woman's spirit inhabits the survivors, the living must grapple with the destruction she left behind while fighting for their own survival.

WITCHBOARD
FRIDAY - AUGUST 15th (Limited)

Emily, her fiancé Christian and a group of their friends open an organic café, refurbishing an old carriage house in New Orleans’ French Quarter. But a darkness descends over Emily when she discovers an ancient pendulum board, once used to summon spirits. Christian seeks help for Emily from occult expert Alexander Babtiste, but Babtiste has secrets of his own, knowing the fateful bloodlines that binds them all to the Witchboard. A modern coven of White Witches, a masked ball at Babtiste’s mansion, and the legacy of Naga Soth, the Queen of Witches, are all part of a dangerous game that puts Emily’s very soul at risk.
