This Week's Notable Horror: 04/01 - 04/07


We're now officially in April and along with the new month are a bunch of new releases. This week specifically delivers almost a dozen notable flicks to watch. Namely, we have the supernatural movie BAGHEAD starring Freya Allan of Witcher-fame, which lands on Shudder this Friday. Next to that is the major theatrical release for THE FIRST OMEN, which is a prequel to the original 1976 film. The rest of this week's releases can be found below.

BAG OF LIES
TUESDAY - APRIL 2nd (VOD)

Desperate to save his dying wife, Matt turns to The Bag, an ancient relic with dark magic. The cure demands a chilling ritual and strict rules. As his wife heals, Matt's sanity unravels, facing terrifying consequences.

COLD ROAD
TUESDAY - APRIL 2nd (VOD)

An Indigenous woman tries to make her way up north to see her mother until an unknown semi-truck driver begins hunting her on the highway.

DAGR
TUESDAY - APRIL 2nd (VOD)

Two young women seeking internet stardom pose as catering staff on a high-end fashion commercial. Unbeknownst to the ad team the women's plan is to film themselves stealing all the expensive merchandise, giving it away to people who need it, and post it on their Youtube channel. However, when they arrive at the location there's no-one there. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to set up hidden cameras and get started on the theft, they discover an iPad which holds footage of the commercial shot so far. But what looks to be a glossy homage to Jean-Luc Goddard, soon turns into a Blair Witch paranormal nightmare.

THE GLENARMA TAPES
TUESDAY - APRIL 2nd (VOD)

In spring 2020, five art students and two lecturers went missing in a remote forest in Ireland. What happened to them has remained unknown - until now. Their last movements are pieced together from footage recovered from a police operation almost two years later, where it becomes clear that what started out as an innocent prank became a horrific fight for survival in the cold darkness of Glenarma Forest.

HUNTING FOR THE HAG
TUESDAY - APRIL 2nd (VOD)

Follows three young women as they venture deep into the woods of central Illinois to hunt for a mysterious legend known as The Hawthorne Hag. Led by aspiring documentary filmmaker Tara, the girls set out to capture The Hag on camera for the first time—but unexpected dangers await them in the forest.

MISTER SLEEP
TUESDAY - APRIL 2nd (VOD)

A deranged serial killer called Mister Sleep, survives prison execution and is reborn as a terrifying and unstoppable force of nature who unleashes savage and bloody revenge on a group of insomnia patients participating in a new drug trial - a group who he believes have stolen his memories. His relentless thirst for revenge sets him on a collision course with the man who sent him to death row and his young daughter, who is part of the group testing the new medication.

BAGHEAD
FRIDAY - APRIL 5th (Shudder)

A young woman inherits a run-down pub and discovers a dark secret within its basement - Baghead - a shape-shifting creature that will let you speak to lost loved ones, but not without consequence.

FESTIVAL OF THE LIVING DEAD
FRIDAY - APRIL 5th (Tubi)

It has been over 50 years since Night of the Living Dead’s original zombie attack and the horrific event has become the subject of morbid nostalgia. Looking for fun, Ash (Moore) and her friends attend the Festival of the Living Dead, but it is disrupted when a blast of radioactive space dust hits the festival and they must defend themselves or be devoured by the living dead.

THE FIRST OMEN
FRIDAY - APRIL 5th (Theaters)

A young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.
