It looks like Pedro dropping out is true, as recent reports indicate that Josh Brolin is now in talks to replace Pedro in the film. (2/21/24)
Actor Pedro Pascal is rumored to have dropped out of the project due to his busy schedule. This is treated as a rumor until something official is released. (1/11/24)
Filming was originally aimed to begin sometime in the Fall of 2023.
New Line Cinema will distribute theatrically in the US.
Rumored to revolve around "witchcraft and missing children."
There was reportedly a bidding war for the project among several big studios, with Universal and New Line being the two remaining. New Line would ultimately win with an 8-figure deal. Richard Brener, president and chief creative officer at New Line Cinema was quoted saying: "Zach proved with Barbarian that he can create a visceral theatrical experience for audiences and that he commands every tool in the filmmaker toolbelt."
The producers of Barbarian (Vertigo Entertainment and Boulderlight Productions) are back to produce this new project.
